Nevertheless: What The Bible Says About Mental Health

I began Rise Holy because I felt the Lord calling me to share the truth about who He is and about the relationship that He wants to have with us, His people, His beloved creation. Currently, that is why I post on this site on Wednesdays and make Instagram posts, because I want to remind anyone who is willing to listen of the truth that Satan has tried his best to corrupt:

That God loves you and just wants you to come back home, to Him.

Satan has perpetuated his lies in the world for too long, and there are a great many topics that churches do not broach for fear of how the world would receive them but our silence hinders our ministry. One such topic is mental health.

Mental health is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

It isn’t just depression or being “crazy” as some would have you to believe, it is a major factor in your worldview. If you are having mental health issues due to outside stressors, chemical imbalances or personal experiences, your paradigm as a whole will be skewed negatively. Those struggling with mental health issues often feel unseen, even in the church and that has got to stop.

The truth is that the Bible addresses many mental health topics such as:

Anxiety

Depression

Feelings of Anxiety

Feeling Unheard, Isolated and Misunderstood

From Elijah to Jesus to Job to Martha and all through the narrative of the Scriptures, we see people dealing with mental health battles and the Lord gives us encouragement through the testimonies we read there. Yet why are so many churches hesitant to bring it up?

Just because you are struggling with mental health issues doesn’t make you less Christian, it doesn’t make you less saved. We are all members of the body of Christ and we are called to encourage and uplift each other.

That is why I have been working so hard on a Bible-Study addressing these issues, to remind people that they are not alone in their struggles and that God has a way, as He always will. As the weeks go by, I will be posting on various promises of God and how we can look at them from a new perspective when we discuss mental health.

Additionally, I will soon launch a Kickstarter project to share the Gospel through my 4-Week Bible Study, for more information or to support, click here. And be sure to follow it so that when it launches, you will be notified.

Please reach out to someone if you feel like you are having a hard time.

You may be hurting right now, nevertheless God has you’re back. You may stumble, nevertheless you can still rise holy!
